U14 Development Level Program

The U14 program is designed for athletes age 12 and up and is the next step after U12. It marks the beginning of the Development Level Program by giving skiers a more structured training and competition environment while continuing to build confidence, versatility, and strong technical and tactical skills.

.

Season Timeline and Events

U14 athletes take part in summer dryland training in June and July, break in August, and resume fall training from September through late November. Athletes then attend the annual Fall Camp at Apex in early December. On-snow training at Mt Seymour begins in late December, racing begins in January, and the on-snow program typically runs through early April.

Competitive opportunities include local Coast Zone races, several away trips to Whistler, and the Provincial Championships, which are held at a different venue each year.

The U14 program offers two options:

  • U14 Core Program: Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., plus one weekend day from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Athletes choose either Saturday or Sunday.

  • U14 Accelerated Program: Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., plus both weekend days—Saturday and Sunday—from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

These two options are offered to:

  • Provide a clearer progression in time on snow from first-year to second-year U14 athletes.

  • Give families flexibility to choose a participation level that fits academics, other sports, budget considerations, and readiness for U16.

Training Schedule and Supervision

Athletes train on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Weekend training runs from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with Core athletes choosing either Saturday or Sunday and Accelerated athletes training both weekend days. Athletes are fully supervised by professional coaching staff throughout each session.
