U12 Program

GOPR0233.jpg

The U12 Program acts as a bridge between the Entry Level Program (U8/U10) and the Development Level Program (U14/U16). U12 skiers spend a greater amount of time training in gates than the U10 Level, but the fun and games aspect of the fundamental level are still included.

U12 skiers build on the fundamental skills learned in the U10 level and develop their versatile skiing ability. Although racing is a central feature of the program the consolidation of beginner-level skills is the focus. This is done through a mix of gate training and all-mountain skiing.

The U12 program commences in December and usually finishes the beginning of April. There are three regional races, a number of away trips to Whistler and a year-end provincial race in Sun Peaks, all of which are optional.

U12 skiers can choose to attend from 2 to 4 days per week, one or two weekend days and one or two weeknights. Skiers meet their coaches ready to ski every morning at 8:30 and are picked up at 15:00 on the weekend and every Tuesday and Thursday evening between 18:00 and 21:00 Between drop off and pick up your child will be fully supervised by our professional coaching staff.

There will be a lunch break outside at the race hut or alternate location. Snack time can range from 30-60 minutes depending on weather and group dynamics.

Good eating habits are set early on in life so please keep this in mind when packing your child’s snack. Sugar-laden food does not make for good ski racer fuel.

End of Day | 2:30PM

Athletes meet parents at the race hut. This is a great time to talk to your child’s coach about any questions or concerns you may have.
