Programs || Nancy Greene

nancy greene program | 5-10

The Nancy Greene Program is designed for youths five to ten years old. Fundamental skills are introduced at this level in a safe and fun environment through gate training and versatile skier development. Kids who progress through the program will be confident skiers both on and off of the race course.

Skiers are grouped with others within their age and skill range and are coached and supervised by professional CSCF coaches. Within their groups the skiers will develop strong technical and versatile skiing skills following Alpine Canada's Snow Star Program. Skiers will also be able to participate in a number of fun and competitive team based races over the season.

The only requirement for joining the Nancy Greene Program is an intermediate skiing ability. This includes the ability to get on an off of a chair lift without assistance, and the ability to ski an intermediate run under control. If you have any questions or concerns please contact the club.

*Please note that we cannot accept children who have not skied before or are beginner level skiers. If your child is either of these please have a look at the programs offered by the Mount Seymour Snow School.*

The Nancy Greene program is eligible for the CRA Child Fitness Tax Credit. For more information about the tax credit please visit the CRA info site.

program dates and duration

The Nancy Greene program will commence on January 5th and 6th. The program spans twelve weeks including two regional races and the year end race in Sun Peaks, all of which are optional.

Families can chose to attend on Saturday or Sunday. Skiers meet their coaches ready to ski every morning at 9 AM and are picked up a 3 PM. During the day your cild will be fully supervised by our professional coaching staff.

There are also a number of optional camps available to Nancy Greene skiers at an additional cost including the Christmas Camps and the Spring Break Camp. Christmas Camp I is a great way for you and your child to get a sense of what it is like to be a member of the club. For more information about our camps please visit our camps page.

clothing and equipment

All skiers must have their own skis and are required to have a FIS approved helmet which will be worn at all times on the hill. Acceptable helmets must bare the CE mark and conform to one of the following standards:

US 2040
ASTM F2040
SNELL S98
RS98

Helmets with soft ears, such as "snowboard" and "freestyle" helmets are not acceptable.

Rental equipment is available through Mount Seymour and other local rental outlets and must be obtained before the start of our sessions. Winter sports specific clothing is also vital for an enjoyable day. The weather changes rapidly on the mountain with sun, snow and rain sometimes occurring in the same day.

Lift tickets ARE NOT included with the club membership and fees. Season passes can be purchased from Mount Seymour before the end of September at a significantly reduced rate. Club members are eligible for a discount off regular season pass rates, but the Early Bird discount is the best value.
